The program of the ceremony is as follows:

  • Welcoming address (5 minutes)
by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Holger Steeb
    Course Coordinator
  • Presentation of Alumni Network (5 minutes)
    by Ms. Katharina Klein
    Provisional Director
    Office of Alumni Relations
  • Plenary Lecture (30-45 minutes)
HPR-FE2: High-Performance Model Order Reduction in Multiscale Computational Modelling of Materials and Structures
    Prof. Xavier (Javier) Oliver

Hierarchical multiscale modeling, based on energetic equivalences between scales (FE2), is one of the most effective methods for multiscale modeling of materials and structures in terms of accuracy. The main issue with FE2 methods arises from the enormous involved computational cost since the number of required operations (complexity) has a multiplicative character: the total complexity of the multiscale problem is the product of the ones in every scale (the tyranny of scales). The lecture deals with a specific computational technique (HPR-FE2) to fight this tyranny.

  • Presentations of Students (40 - 60 minutes)
  • Closing Address

We are looking forward to welcoming you at the graduation ceremony. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
